My Profile Story: An Interactive Sitcom

myprofilestory

Ever wonder what would happen if your Facebook/MySpace profile came to life after you logged off? Yeah, me neither. But my friends The Fine Brothers always seem to be thinking outside the box — and now they’ve created an interactive comedy series with that unlikely premise. My Profile Story premiered on Comedy Central’s Atom TV last week and has already soared to the top of the video site’s playlist.

The first episode introduces us to Jenny (interested in “socializing online instead of in real life”), her profile page (adorned with hilariously ugly ads), and her “top six” friends. Jealousies abound as pics are changed and friends are shuffled in the top slots. You’ll LOL as familiar online archetypes ( the psycho bff, the party girl, the goth chick) bicker Brady Bunch style. It’s definitely a whole new breed of sitcom.

The Fine Brothers are no strangers to online video — their web series and sketches boast millions of views. But this time the brothers have gone all out: they’ve built an interactive website that looks exactly like Jenny’s profile page and allows you to become friends with the characters from the show, upload pics and links, email them, and leave comments.

The idea of thousands of fans becoming “friends” with fictional characters on TV/the web and interacting with them as they do any other online friend is intriguing. You can get started by heading over to Jenny’s profile page here. Just watch out for Kali… she’s got issues.
