Since CBS once again dropped the bomb on it’s awesome sci-fi series Jericho, tonight will be it’s swan song. Unless, of course, SciFi Channel (or another cable network) picks it up and runs with it (PLEASE!). Wishful thinking? Maybe. SciFi picked up Stargate when Showtime canceled it and that show ran forever. It is rumored that the ending that will air tonight does not entirely slam the door on the series, and Carol Barbee, executive producer of Jericho, told SCI FI Wire that talks are ongoing to find the show another home.
I think Jericho may be one of the casualities in the painful transition from TV to internet consumption of entertainment. Yes, the ratings for the show were down, but it performed very well on iTunes and streaming on CBS.com. You’d think the suits would look at this and say: “Hey, we have an unprecented show of support from fans, and younger viewers are clearly watching the show online intead of on the TV set. Let’s keep going.”
I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed, as I have been completely drawn into the series, and would love to see the continuing adventures of undercover badass Robert Hawkins.
If you want SciFi Channel to pick up this series, write them here: SCI FI Channel, 21st Floor, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10112

I love how the ending can be a decent closer or a great way to start a whole new story arc..
