Solar Robot Mower Could Put Neighborhood Kid Out of Business

The Automower

Here’s everything a guy like me wants in a new device: it’s green, it’s a robot, and it does my chores for me. VICTORY!

The Automower from the Swedish company Husqvarna is a no hands mowing system with batteries and solar panels to boost the battery life. It lasts about an hour per battery charge, enough to mow approximately 900 square feet. The solar hybrid supposedly uses the same amount of energy as a 40 watt light bulb.

Plus, it looks like a sports car for lawn gnomes. I hope the gnomes have deep pockets, though — The Automower has a $4G price tag.

  2. If my family had one of those when I was a kid, I would TOTALLY have tried to drive that bad boy around the front yard!

There are less expensive robot mowers available. The non-solar robots cost about 7-10 dollars a year in electricity to run and recharge, according to Georgia Power. The most in depth robot mower reviews can be found at http://www.bamabots.com
